BGM Models was founded by Darrianne Donnelly, one of the first plus-size models to achieve success in the Australian industry. Despite hearing remarks about her weight since childhood like, "You have such a nice face, if you lost weight, you could even be a model!" Darrianne went ahead and forged a career in the industry.

“At first I thought the reason I was attracting so much attention in the industry was solely because I was bigger," says Darrianne. "Over time, I realised it wasn’t entirely because I was a size 16 among a bevy of waif-thin women, but that there were so few women stepping up to the job. With a bit of research, I discovered this was due to potential plus-size models being unaware the opportunity existed”.  It was with this in mind, coupled with an increasing desire to change the portrayal of women in advertising, that she opened her own agency.

Thanks to growing consumer demand to see an accurate portrayal of women in media, and advertisers acknowledging this trend, BGM Models has flourished into an international modelling agency with a client list that includes Avon, Commonwealth Bank, Special K, Big W, Myer, Mysize, Maggie T, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Today Tonight, and Australian Women's Weekly, to name a few.

Recently, BGM models joined forces with plus-size label City Chic and IMG Fashion to produce the first plus size fashion parade in Australia at Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival 2009.  18 gorgeous size 14 plus BGM Models strutted their stuff on the catwalk, and the received world wide acclaim in the media and from consumers.

In 2010, as more and more advertisers recognise consumer dissatisfaction with female representation in media, the demand for plus-size models continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. BGM are proud to be at the forefront in the industry for representing beautiful women of all shapes and sizes, so if you’re interested in becoming a plus size model, or for enquires about booking our plus size models click here http://www.bgmmodels.com.au/contact.asp
